Time & Billing

Fee Structures

Instrumental to all professional attorney-client relationships is the clear understanding and appreciation not only of the rates charged by each respective attorney, but the availability of alternative fee arrangements and billing frequency, methodology and formatting. Often times these issues are not clearly explored at the initiation of the relationship, sometimes resulting in inefficient, more costly representation. Negotiated fee arrangements based upon volume, complexity and frequency of services required utilized by Mitchell & Associates include:
  • Hourly Fees – traditional billing method based on predetermined rates
  • Flat Fee – a single fee for the completion of a defined legal task
  • Fixed Fee – a predetermined fee for each defined stage of litigation
  • Contingency Fee – a percentage of the total recovery made on behalf of a client
  • Mixed Fee an agreed upon billing method combining portions of the above

Billing Methodology

Mitchell & Associates stands ready to adapt its billing methodology to the individual needs of its clients. Our use of separate, clear and detailed explanations of the work performed per time entry as opposed to “block” billing presents the ability to readily track the course of litigation through chronological review of time entries. When required, utilization of task based billing pursuant to the ABA Uniform Task-Based Management System or other predetermined schedule is available, as are billing mediums such as electronic, .pdf, or traditional paper invoices.
