Craig B. Mitchell

Founding Member

Craig maintains a civil litigation and worker's compensation practice with particular focus on insurance related matters, catastrophic personal injury and complex, multi-party litigation. He is a graduate of Fisk University, one of the nation's oldest historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) where he received degrees in English and history, and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate and Certificate of Specialization in Environmental Law from Tulane Law School. In 2009 he received the Certified Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP) designation from the Louisiana Association of Self Insured Employers. Prior to establishing the firm Craig was a law clerk and associate at Christovich & Kearney, L.L.P.

Craig has been active in the New Orleans community, having served on the Boards of Directors of The New Orleans Public Library (former vice-chairman), New Orleans Public Library Foundation (former president) Tulane Alumni Association (Tulane Law School representative), and Young Leadership Council. He also served as treasurer of the Alliance for Good Government's New Orleans chapter and was appointed government liaison for The Tulane University Louisiana Council. Craig occasionally serves as a local political consultant whose opinions and strategies are routinely sought.

Real Life Experience

Perspective is important for an attorney. Relevant, real life experience garners perspective. Craig's appreciation of the perils employers face daily, practical experience in the food service industry and exposure to the construction field yield the perspective necessary to successfully advocate and defend Mitchell & Associate's clients. Growing up he spent weekends on jobsites with his father, a construction inspector for more than thirty years. As a young adult working through school Craig held the titles of "dishwasher," "busboy" and "waiter." In the days following Hurricane Katrina, Craig and his wife, Kiana, established a logistics and security company employing over sixty armed law enforcement officers who provided 24 hour security to a prime U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor at multiple jobsites for nearly two years, all without incident or work related claims of injury. Craig's real life experience has prepared him to better understand the real issues real businesses face.
